The New American Plate Challenge

I have to admit I’m a sucker for a contest.  I always think mine will be the winning entry, because I’m sure there are only about 5 other people who will participate.  Then I remember we live in the age of the Internet, Facebook, Twitter, and all the other forms of social media I’m struggling to stay on top of, and there are already 5 zillion people who have sent in their entries, and I’m late to the party…

So I got an email the other day from American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR), a site that I subscribe to and love for their healthy recipes and summaries of the latest research on cancer research and prevention.  They are running The New American Plate Challenge - 12 Weeks to a Healthier You.  It’s kind of like a contest, and it’s free AND, everyone’s a winner!  So of course, I signed myself right up.  Each Monday, I’ll get an email with a specific challenge to work on – either food, or exercise related, each with the goal of reducing my risk of cancer.  On Fridays they send a teaser email with information about what I have to buy at the grocery store, or ways to prepare for moving more, so I can get ready for next week’s challenge.  Anyone who joins can blog and share photos and recipes, and there is also a message board for challengers to share ideas and support.

Since I already know I’m going to win this challenge, I want to spread the word and get as many people as possible to join me. I’ll be blogging about it throughout the summer, and I would love to hear from some of you.  So please invite anyone you know who wants to be healthier and do what they can to prevent cancer, to sign up for the New American Plate Challenge, and lets all be winners!
